BE PART OF
INVESTING IN ETERNITY
Sherwood has undergone an inspiring transformation in recent years. God has expanded the scope of our ministry beyond what anyone would have imagined just a few years ago. Nearly each and every week decisions are made for Jesus at Sherwood. With the growing number of weekly guests, stewarding our property and facilities has become a top priority to accommodate continued growth.
January 2022 our church family voted unanimously to move forward in the planning and funding of a new addition to our facilities called The Barnes Building, named after our pastor emeritus, Dr. Talmadge Barnes. The Barnes Building will serve our growing family with a much needed family life center.
Since then, we have raised over $1.3 million to support our upcoming expansions. Additionally, we have been coordinating with county planners, architects, and civil engineers regarding our project. These discussions have helped us outline the most suitable approach to enhance our property, ensuring it becomes a more accessible, safe, and inviting space for our weekly visitors to enjoy in the years ahead.
Phase 1: Site Infrastructure and Annex
The first phase of development focuses on improvements to the septic system to ensure efficient waste management by connecting to city sewer. Additionally, the playground will be relocated to a central area on the property, offering a safer and more engaging play space for children. Simultaneously, a new entrance will be constructed to enhance accessibility, and the parking lot will be expanded to accommodate increased traffic. Lastly, due to the complexity of the Barnes Building construction phase, our current sanctuary would not be able to be occupied. To resolve this dilemma and keep us on site, eliminating the need for leasing a new location during phase 2, it is recommended that we invest in the construction of the Annex. The Annex building will initially provide adequate worship space for our Sunday gatherings, as well as be a considerable asset for our future growth.
Phase 2: Barnes Building and Renovation
During the second phase, we will be constructing the Barnes Building and renovating our existing sanctuary to create more space for education. This highly awaited phase will improve our capacity to reach a broader audience by offering accessible facilities for a variety of educational programs and community outreach efforts.
Phase 3: Future Worship Center
The third and final phase involves the construction of a new worship center, which will finalize our site plan and enhance the overall flow and coherence of the site.

FUNDING THE BARNES BUILDING
In 2016, Sherwood adopted a debt free policy to ensure optimum stewardship
practices and fiscal responsibility. Our budgeting and funding of ministry projects
are comprised of the faithfulness and generosity of our Sherwood family.
Each month any funds received through the general fund that are more
than our monthly budget will be directed to our Harvest Fund.
Giving directly to the Harvest Fund is also possible through either online or in person giving.

PROJECT HARVEST IS MORE THAN A BUILDING
Our future is as bright as the promises of God, and at Sherwood, we are making it our
aim to stand upon His promises and make Jesus known to the nations.
